What's the Difference Between Anti-Bacterial and Anti-Microbial?

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Not all cleaners are created equal. Did you know that there's a difference between anti-bacterial and anti-microbial?

As a licensed Acute-Derm retailer, Radiant Facials has up to date information straight from the manufacturer about how products once only marketed for acne can actually be used to kill bacteria and viruses on the hands and face. The following is information directly provided by Acute-Derm and if you are one of the millions of Americans in the habit of touching your face, you may want to read further.

Misinformation and Clarification, Anti-bacterial vs. Anti-microbial

We want to inform all of or customers regarding the benefits of our Anti-microbial Cleansing Gel during the current Coronavirus escalation. I would like to first explain a few things to you and some poor media updates with misleading information. The media recently announced that ‘Purell’ killed the virus. This is very misleading. Purell Hand Sanitizer does not kill the Coronavirus. It is simply an anti-bacterial cleanser. If you clicked on the report of EPA products that offered quality disinfectants, Purell was listed but it is their Disinfectant Cleansing Wipes, not the antibacterial hand sanitizer, that is to be used.

  • Anti-bacterial contains an active drug ingredient that stops bacteria by suppressing growth or disables the ability to reproduce

  • Anti-microbial is more potent than an antibacterial. Active drug ingredient or product that kills microorganisms or stops their growth

Disinfectants are regulated by the EPA, not the FDA. These are very potent ingredients that can cause harm if misused, i.e. bleach.

The Benefits of Acute-Derm

Our antimicrobial labels include ‘Antisepation™’, B-Kleer™ (our acne program), and Reprev®. All three brands are the same product, just geared for different end-users.

  • Our product is Antimicrobial OTC Drug (medicine)!

  • It is the most potent Antimicrobial on the market! It is a ‘maximum strength’ product established by the FDA. And, we exceed virtually all FDA standards for Maximum Strength qualities.

  • It is concentrated. You need very little.

  • The kill rate: o 16 bacterium, including Staph, Pseudomonas, and E.coli, is 99.996% instant kill rate that lasts for 4 – 6 hours without reapplying. o The kill rate for p-bacterium (Propioni) is 99.9% instant kill rate. o MRSA is 96% within 2 minutes

This is an excellent product to have at home, at work or in your car, especially if you cannot find or do not have disinfectants available to you, especially for travel at this time.

We currently have 4oz, 8oz, and 32 oz sizes available. Remember, no matter the label color or product name, the ‘Antisepation™’, B-Kleer™, and Reprev® are all the same formula. To purchase one for local pick up (Kingwood, TX) or to have it shipped, CLICK HERE.

I've very impressed with Diane, and Radiant Facial, I consider her my "skin coach" she really strives to educate you for the best practices for your skin. When you're her client, she takes your skin personally! Since I have been going to her, it's taken at least 10 years off my complexion! After my first peel I had two people ask me if I had a facelift, the products tighten and clear your skin!

I'm all in!
